Abstract

Pierburg GmbH has launched into series production the first die-cast aluminium exhaust gas recirculation coolers for installation in diesel engines on which the innovative friction stir welding method is used for joining together the components. These coolers are remarkable for their high cooling performance combined with a compact footprint. The newly developed ribbed geometry not only reduces any sooting tendency, it also ensures that cooling performance is sustained throughout the unit’s lifetime.
