Summary

1-Stearyl, 1-palmityl, and 1-lauryl-2-naphthols have been prepared by the Nencki process. These hydroxy ketones were methylated, and reduced by Clemmensen’s method. They were subjected to the Kostanecki reaction, and condensed with ethyl bromacetate, to obtain the chromones and coumarones containing these long-chain alkyl groups. *** DIRECT SUPPORT *** A00OC026 00005
