Summary

Asthma is seen in 10% of the children in the Netherlands. Gastro-esophageal reflux is one of the factors, which can worsen asthma. The literature describes that between 25 and 75% of the patients with asthma can have ger. In general there is a lack of interest in the Netherlands, concerning the relation between asthma and ger and the possible advantages of the treatment of ger. The treatment of reflux in asthmatics can reduce asthma symptoms. Unfortunately, this treatment has not been sufficiently researched. A review about treatment of ger in asthmatic children will be given in this article.
