Abstract

A primary calcitic skeleton mineralogy is indicated for the rugose coralGeyerophyllum carnicum Heritsch from the Late Carboniferous of the Carnic Alps (Austria) by the partial inclusion of a juvenile gastropod shell within the skeleton of the coral and by the carbonate cement sequence within the coral skeleton.
