Colour centers induced by Cd addition in sodium chloride

Summary

Several absorption bands, associated to Cd doping, appear in NaCl:CdCl2 system X-irradiated after quenching. Fast precipitation processes are detected for the «bases» of Cd centers responsible for the absorption bands. In light of these results, the low rate ofF-center production in X-irradiated Cd-doped samples is discussed. The optical and thermal treatments effects are examined in order to analyse the nature of Cd centers.

Riassunto

La presenza di cadmio bivalente in monocristalli di NaCl, sottoposti a « tempra » da 500 °K e successivamente irraggiati con radiazione X in un intervallo di temperatura compreso fra 80 °K e 370 °K, è rivelato da uno spettro di assorbimento ottico particolarmente complesso. La debole colorabilità di NaCl:CdCl2 per effetto della radiazione ionizzante viene discussa alla luce dei fenomeni di precipitazione, estremamente rapidi, osservati per le « basi » dei centri di cadmio responsabili delle bande di assorbimento. La natura dei centri di colore indotti dalla presenza del cadmio viene esaminata in base agli effetti determinati da trattamenti termici e ottici dei campioni.

Несколько полос поглошения, свяэанных с добавлением СИ, появляются в системе NаСl:Сd1Сl2, которая после охлаждения иэлучает рентгеновские лучи. Определяются быстрые осаждаюшие процессы для « основы » Сd центров, ответственных эа полосы поглошения. В свете зтих реэультатов обсуждается ниэкая скорость рожденияF-центров в обраэцах с добавлением Сd, иэлучаюших рентгеновские лучи. Исследуются оптические и тепловые зффекты, чтобы проаналиэировать природу Сd центров.
