Abstract

The structure of a new Schiff base, o-tosylaminobenzaldehyde, which has a bulky aliphatic substituent at the azomethine N atom, was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure contains an intramolecular hydrogen bond N-H...N, flattening the azomethine molecule and closing the six-membered quasiaromatic H-ring.
