Conclusions
The coatings are vitrified when electrofused spinel, forsterite, cerium dioxide fired at 1450‡C, and alumina are gas-flame sprayed using rods with a water glass binder.
The greatest amount of vitreous phase is found in the coatings of forsterite and alumina fired at 1450‡C.
The greatest strength if possessed by coatings of alumina fired at 1450‡C and sintered corundum.
When coatings of alumina, spinel and forsterite are applied in layers up to 0.5 mm thick, they show good stability with respect to sudden temperature changes.
