Use of Kh12F1 steel for facing mold plates

Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

The presence in the structure of Kh12F1 steel of residual austenite increases its abrasion resistance. The cause of the high resistance of steel with a high content of residual austenite is its strengthening in the abrasive process upon the application of a high specific pressure. The maximum wear resistance of steel Kh12F1 is obtained after tempering from 1170ℴ.

The use of steel Kh12F1 for facing plates for press molds is economically more profitable, and the technology of the manufacture is simple. This suggests that we can recommend steel Kh12F1 for manufacturing mold plates.
