Soviet Physics Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

The oscillations of a film (lamina) with free boundaries are discussed. Calculations were performed and a computer analysis made of the dispersion curves for various types of oscillation. The results are presented here graphically. The density of states for phonons in a film is determined. The effects that the properties of phonons in films have on certain physical properties are discussed.
