Conclusions

By EPR it was shown that complexes of copper(II) with o-aminomethylphenols contain a N2O2 coordination center tetrahedrally distorted in relation to the steric properties of the substituents at the N atom.

The reaction of complexes of 2∶1 ligand:copper composition with ethanol, water, and pyridine proceeds either by coordination of one or two solvents molecules or by a mechanism of outer-sphere coordination in relation to the steric properties of the substituents.

The structure-of the resulting complexes was explained by conformational mobility of the first coordination sphere.
