Reference radiator for relative measurements of preparations labeled with C14

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Summary

Thus, the possibility was shown of making, on the basis of toluene labeled with carbon-14, a reference radiator for liquid scintillation counting.

The radioactive toluene sample was calibrated by means of two different methods whose results did not differ by more than 1%.

It has been found that the calibrated toluene can be used as a radioactive reference substance for one year. Its activity then varies by less than 3%.
