Conclusions

  1. 1.

Values of electron affinity appear to be calculational criteria of the reactivities of anhydrides of tetracarboxylic acids in the same homologous series.

  2. 2.

Differences in the reactivities of phthalic and naphthalic anhydrides are determined by the strength of the anhydride ring.

  3. 3.

The most electrophilic reaction center is determined by the largest value of positive charge on the carbon atom of the carbonyl group.
