Previously undescribed N,N′-methylenebiscrotonamide was synthesized in three different ways: a) by reaction between two molecules of N-(hydroxymethyl)crotonamide with elimination of water and formaldehyde; b) by reaction of crotonamide with N-(hydroxymethyl)crotonamide with elimination of water; c) by thermal treatment of N,N′-(oxydimethylene)biscrotonamide with elimination of formaldehyde.

Some properties of N,N′-methylenebiscrotonamide were determined.
