Abstract
N-(2-Pyridyl)-aminomethylene-malononitriles3 are obtained in good yields by heating 2-aminopyridines with malononitrile in the presence of orthoformiates. Acid hydrolysis of3 leads to pyrido [1,2-a]pyrimidines (5,6, and7).
