Spontaneous magnetization of substituted two-sublattice ferrimagnets with angular magnetic configuration

Abstract

A statistical model of a ferrimagnet with diamagnetically dilute “weak” sublattice is examined in a molecular field approximation with exchange interactions taken into account in the first and second coordination spheres. The magnetic configuration is represented as a set of local spin groups having a different number of magnetic neighbors; the noncollinearity angle for such groups is a function of the temperature and degree of substitution. For definite values of the exchange integrals Ij i and the local magnetizations, conditions occur for the transition to a collinear configuration in a given group, which leads to a sequence of matrix phase transformations in the magnetic ordering domain. The theory developed is in good agreement with experimental data for Y-Sc ferrogarnets obtained by neutron and x-ray structural analyses.
