Abstract
An attempt is made to give a mathematical description of polymer flow in an extruder screw with account for the special properties of polymers. Equations are obtained relating the extruder parameters (output, pressure drop) for the screw geometry, the rheological constants of the extrudate, and the boundary conditions. Typical extruder output calculations are presented for certain rather complex conditions.
