Chemical transformations of tetracyclopentadienylzirconium

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The reaction of tetracyclopentadienylzirconium with methyl and ethyl alcohols, phenol, thiophenol, and with trifluoroacetic and trichloroacetic acids, taking the reactants in a 1∶2 ratio, gave the corresponding bis(cyclopentadienyl) derivatives of zirconium.

  2. 2.

The reaction of (C6H5)4Zr with bromine gives (C5H5)2ZrBr2 and the bromination products of cyclopentadiene.

  3. 3.

The action of aqueous hydrofluoric acid on (C5H5)4Zr leads to the formation of tetracyclopentadienyldizirconoxane difluoride [(C5H5)2ZrF]2O.
