Conclusions

  1. 1.

The results of an experimental test of the developed equations support the idea that creep at low stresses and relaxation result from the same fundamental processes. The different intensities of these processes are a reflection of the variable character of stress change as function of time.

  2. 2.

At large creep strains (1% and above), in addition to the analytical stress law which is the same for both types of tests, the deterioration process acquires a decisive significance for the course of the creep curve.

  3. 3.

Comparative creep and relaxation tests have shown the possibility of constructing, through computation, creep curves at low stresses from relaxation tests and vice versa, with the method advanced here giving entirely satisfactory results.
