Device for calibrating and testing flow meters

Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Conclusions

The described scheme has the following advantages; a) it is universal (can measure directly corrosive, toxic and low or high-boiling fluids); b) its measurement range is large (100:1 and more) with the accuracy remaining high; c) the required static pressure is produced by a compact pressure stabilizing system mounted at the same level as other plant parts without affecting the measurement accuracy; when working at high pressures a low-pressure pump can be used; d) a high process efficiency is obtained (approximately 100 times better than in the case of similar devices based on the “tower” principle); e) the apparatus is compact (e.g., an instrument for a maximum flow rate of 50 m3/h can be mounted on an area occupied by a “tower”-type device for 2 m3/h); f) it can be of a modular design built up of standard units which creates the necessary conditions for a large-scale manufacture of stationary and portable testing devices; g) relatively low manufacturing and operating costs.
