Conclusions
-
1.
SiC vigorously reacts with Ni-Cr base alloys and cannot be used in direct contact with them.
-
2.
TiN and Al2O3 coatings applied to SiC fibers are compatible with Ni-Cr base alloy matrices and may be utilized for barrier protection in the formulation of composite materials.
-
3.
Si3N4 and BNC coatings react with Ni-Cr base alloys and are therefore unsuitable for operation at high temperatures.
