Conclusions
-
1.
A study was made of the lattice parameters, microhardness, and electrical resistivity of binary solid solutions of niobium and titanium carbides (TiC = 25, 50, and 75 mol.%) in their homogeneity region (C/Me = 0.9, 0.95, and 1.0).
-
2.
It is shown that, with change in the amount of combined carbon, the properties of the carbide alloys vary linearly.
-
3.
The maximum value of microhardness in the carbide alloys is observed for the composition Nb0.25Ti0.75CX and the maximum value of electrical resistivity for the composition Nb0.4Ti0.6CX, which may be attributed to different degrees of disturbance of the statistical weight of atoms with stable d5-configurations of one metal by the other in the formation of carbide alloys.
