  1. 1.

    Electrophysiological experiments prove that the mesothoracic scolopophore ofCorixa punctata Ill. is sensitive to airborne sound.

  2. 2.

    The sensitivity of the two receptor cells to sound was measured in the frequency range of 0.2 to 20 kHz (Fig. 2).

  3. 3.

    The two organs situated on opposite sides of the body differ in their responses.
