Phagocytic function of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in psoriatic inflammation

Summary

A study of phagocytic function of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in the serum of 40 patients with psoriasis reveals a significant, subnormal phagocytosis in comparison to a control group. The discrepancy between these results and the previously reported serum increase of C 3 component of complement and c-reactive protein in psoriasis, which both promote phagocytosis, is discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Die Phagocytosefähigkeit der polymorphkernigen neutrophilen Leukocyten des Blutes wird bei 40 Psoriatikern untersucht. Hierbei ergibt sich eine statistisch signifikante Verminderung gegenüber der Phagocytoseleistung der Segmentkernigen einer Kontrollgruppe Gesunder. Die Diskrepanz zwischen den Untersuchungsergebnissen einerseits und andererseits zwischen der mehrfach berichteten Vermehrung der Phagocytose-fördernden C 3-Komplement-Komponente und dem Vorkommen von CRP, das ebenfalls eine Steigerung der Phagocytose bewirken soll, im Serum bei Psoriatikern wird erörtert.
