Summary

  1. 1.

Comparisons were made between the effects of physalaemin, 9 synthetic physalaemin analogues and substance P on the guinea pig ileum and on salivary secretion in the dog. The C-terminal octapeptide with an ethionyl-NH2 instead of methionyl-NH2 ending was the most active synthetic compound with a sialogogic effect as strong as physalaemin.

  2. 2.

Doses of the peptides which caused salivary secretion always had a pronounced hypotensive effect. Blood flow of the submandibular gland increased shortly before the onset of salivary secretion.

Zusammenfassung

  1. 1.
