Bacteriocins from Myxococcus fulvus (Myxobacterales)

Abstract

Bacteriocin-like activities were found in several Myxococcus fulvus strains. One strain, Mxf16, exerted strong inhibitory effects on several myxobacterial strains. Synthesis of its bacteriocinic activity could not be induced by mitomycin. Electrophoresis and molecular sieve chromatography revealed at least three different bacteriocinic substances of low molecular weight.
