Abstract
In a previous work, Misra, Prigogine, and Courbage obtained Markov processes with a time-increasing entropy functional from unstable deterministic dynamic systems. Here we study the problem of the loss of information under the transition from the deterministic to the probabilistic one. We show that, although the transition may be one-to-one, it always entails a loss of information.
