Summary

1. At aequimolar amounts the mono-, bis- and tri-digitoxosides of Digitoxigenine are of the same potency when infused intravenously at different rates in guinea-pigs and cats.

2. Digoxigenine-mono- and -bis-digitoxoside are as active as Digoxine at short infusion-rates in guinea-pigs. However in long-lasting infusions the lethal Dose of Digoxine increases significantly while the lethal Doses of Digoxigenine-mono- and -bis-digitoxoside remain unchanged under the same conditions.

3. The bearing of these results on the relationship between sugars and activity of cardiac glycosides and some metabolic aspects are discussed.
