Gas-Phase Conversion of Uranium-Containing Compounds of Cs and Sr in the Nitrating Atmosphere

  • Published:
Radiochemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The gas-phase conversion of oxide systems containing U, Cs, and Sr was studied. The systems of the Cs2U2O7 and (Sr–Cs–U)Oy type have the high thermal stability to 1523 K in air. The above systems may be converted with high efficiency into water-soluble metal nitrates on heating in the atmosphere resulting from the evaporation of a 12 M HNO3 solution.
