Abstract

A radio frequency ion source has been developed for a low-energy charged particle accelerator system. Characterization of the ion source has been carried out and optimization of the operating parameters such as RF power at 26.68 MHz, extraction voltage, magnetic field, gas pressure, and focusing electrode has been performed. A maximum ion current of 1.4 mA has been achieved at the best operating parameters.
