Effect of Preparation Methods on the Performance of Pt/CeO2 Catalysts for the Catalytic Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide

Catalysis Letters Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

A series of Pt/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by impregnation (IM), deposition-precipitation (DP) and impregnation-reduction (IR) methods, and their catalytic activities for the oxidation of CO were evaluated at room temperature. Pt/CeO2 (IR) catalyst presented the best catalytic activity, over which CO could be completely oxidized at room temperature. Based on the characterization, it was found that on Pt/CeO2 (IR) catalyst more negatively charged metallic Pt species existed, which could efficiently absorb atmospheric oxygen and thus enhance the CO oxidation.
