Zusammenfassung

Die Lehre und Therapie der Entzündungen stellt trotz Weiterentwicklung konservativ-medikamentöser Behandlungsmaßnahmen ein wichtiges Kapitel in einer mund-, kiefer- und gesichtschirurgischen Operationslehre dar, da bei vielen Erkrankungen des entzündlichen Formenkreises die chirurgische Therapie immer noch Mittel der Wahl sein muss. Zusätzlich stellen eine auf der Basis des lokalen Keim- und Resistenzspektrums adaptierte perioperative Prophylaxe und ggf. kalkulierte Therapie die Nachhaltigkeit des operativen Erfolgs sicher. Wichtige anatomische Grundlagen sowie Ätiologie, Symptomatik und spezielle Untersuchungsverfahren, die über die routinemäßige Anamneseerhebung und klinische Untersuchung hinausgehen, sind in kurzer Form den jeweiligen Abschnitten vorangestellt.
