Zusammenfassung
Als gesellschaftliche Werbewirkungen lassen sich solche Auswirkungen der Werbung begreifen, die über das primäre Ziel eines Werbeangebots, eine von Werbenden bestimmte Anschlusshandlung zu motivieren, hinausgehen. In der Forschung wird eine große Spannbreite gesellschaftlicher Werbewirkungen diskutiert. Sie werden zumeist als von den Werbenden nicht-intendiert und gesellschaftlich dysfunktional charakterisiert. Während viele dieser Auswirkungen auf die Werbung im Allgemeinen zurückgeführt werden, lassen sich im Zuge der Digitalisierung und der damit einhergehenden Veränderung der Werbeumwelten neuartige gesellschaftliche Werbewirkungen beobachten, die in dieser Quantität und/oder Qualität vormals unbekannt waren. Sie können insbesondere auf drei Tendenzen zurückgeführt werden, die nicht-traditionelle Werbeumwelten zunehmend prägen: (1) die Integration der Werbebotschaften in ihre Umwelt; (2) die werbliche Durchdringung verschiedener, darunter auch bislang nicht-kommerzialisierter Lebensbereiche; (3) die Personalisierung der Kundenansprache. Ziel des Beitrags ist die Vorstellung der Diskussion gesellschaftlicher Werbewirkungen. Ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt dabei auf den neuartigen gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen, die spezifisch der digitalen Werbekommunikation zuzuschreiben sind.
