Abstract
Orthorexia nervosa (ON) is an emerging eating disorder characterized by an obsession with healthy food that may lead to malnourishment, medical complications, loss of social and personal relationships and poor quality of life.
In recent decades, this eating disorder has increased presence in society; at the same time, researchers have increased interest in studying its critical aspects with the aim to filling the gaps in the literature.
The aims of this chapter were to summarize the current scientific knowledge, highlight the most recent controversies in the field of ON research and suggest instructions for further study through the use of the transdisciplinary approach.
