Zusammenfassung

Die arteriovenöse Fistel mit körpereigenen Gefäßen ist seit der Erstbeschreibung im Jahre 1966 der goldene Standard des Gefäßzuganges zur Dauerdialysebehandlung [4]. Die geniale Idee von Brescia und Cimino — Chirurg war Kenneth Appel — setzte eine Entwicklung in Gang, die bis heute das Geschick, die Erfahrung und die Phantasie des Operateurs fordert. Der Nephrologe erwartet eine gut dilatierte, ein ausreichendes Flussvolumen führende, leicht, sicher und wiederholt zu punktierende Vene.
