Abstract

The aim of our project was to test the applicability of new software methods such as volume raytracing (LEVOY,1988(2)) and the transport theory (KRÜGER,1990(1)) by performing 3-D reconstructions of human bone and tissues. These methods have already proved to be of great advantage in rendering volume data for technical, chemical and physical purposes(1,2), but until now have never been applied and tested under clinical concerns in patients with degenerative disc disease.
