Samenvatting

Na een korte beschrijving van de kenmerken van een cerebrovasculair accident (CVA) en de mogelijke gevolgen hiervan op cognitief, emotioneel en gedragsmatig gebied, wordt aan de hand van een casus de invloed van een CVA in de rechterhemisfeer beschreven. De aandacht richt zich op het klinisch beeld en het klachtenpatroon, zowel opgetekend uit de visie en de beleving van de patiënt, als op basis van informatie vanuit het systeem en de klinische observaties. Tot slot volgt een beschrijving van het psychometrisch testonderzoek, de interpretatie van de resultaten en van daaruit de vertaling naar de behandeling en begeleiding van de patiënt.

    Bij een hoog LDL-cholesterol (low density lipoprotein) is er een verhoogd risico op een ischemisch CVA, bij een hoog HDL-cholesterol (high density lipoprotein) is er een verhoogd risico op een hemorragisch CVA.

    Theory of mind (ToM) is het menselijk vermogen om zich een beeld te vormen van het perspectief van een ander en indirect ook van zichzelf. Men maakt gebruik van theory of mind wanneer men beschrijft wat een ander ziet, voelt of denkt vanuit zijn perspectief. Theory of mind is daarom een noodzakelijke vaardigheid om bijvoorbeeld empathisch te kunnen zijn en zich te verplaatsen in het gevoelsleven van een ander.
