Abstract
Since the pathoanatomic features of congenital hip dislocation were first described by Grawitz (1878) and Holtzmann (1895), many other publications have appeared, and these have been extensively reviewed by Schlegel (1961). Studies based on autopsies of fetal and infant hips have been published by Böhm (1935), Putti (1935, 1937), Ortolani (1948, 1961, 1963), Bernbeck (1950, 1951, 1952), Stansavljevic and Mitchell (1963), Stanislavljevic (1964, 1982), Dörr (1968), Dega (1973, 1978), Campos da Paz and Kalil (1976), Milgram and Tachdjian (1976), Ogden and Moss (1978, 1985), and Ponseti (1978).
