Zusammenfassung

Vor nunmehr 25 Jahren grenzte die amerikanische Pathologin Sophie Spitz aus der Gruppe der gut- und bösartigen Pigmentzellengeschwülste einen Tumor ab, der weniger klinisch als feingeweblich einem malignen Melanom entspricht, sich aber gutartig verhält und vorwiegend bei Kindern und Jugendlichen zur Beobachtung gelangt. Sie nannte ihn „juveniles Melanom“; wir ziehen wie viele andere Autoren die Bezeichnung benignes juveniles Melanom (b. j. M.) vor, um Verwechslungen mit dem malignen Melanom zu vermeiden.
