Abstract
This chapter describes simulation environments which incorporate instructional support for learners and that also provide authors with an authoring tool giving technical and conceptual support. Advances in computer software allow modelers to build sophisticated models relatively easily. Such models can gradually be transferred to a simulation application within the same environment. Traditionally, these two processes, building the model and then developing a learning environment around the model, have been separated and implemented with different tools. The focus here is concentrated on the architecture of a unified modeling and simulations system.
