Zusammenfassung
Verletzungen des vorderen Kreuzbandes (VKB) gehören zu den häufigsten Bandverletzungen des Menschen. Aktuell erwarten wir in den Industrieländern etwa eine VKB-Ruptur auf 1000 Einwohner im Jahr [102]. Es handelt sich um eine typische Sportverletzung. In der Mehrzahl der Fälle entsteht die Ruptur des VKB durch eine forcierte Außenrotation der Tibia gegen das Femur bei im Kniegelenk gebeugtem und belastetem Bein insbesondere dann, wenn noch eine valgisierende Kraftkomponente hinzukommt (Flexions-Außenrotations-Valgustrauma). Ein klassisches Beispiel ist der Sturz nach vorne beim Skifahren, bei dem der Ski des belasteten Beines mit der Spitze nach außen wegläuft und die Bindung sich nicht öffnet. Ähnliche Mechanismen sind im Fußballsport häufig. Der Stollenschuh des belasteten Beines ist am Boden fixiert, während der Körper forciert zur Gegenseite rotiert wird. Seltener sind Überstreckmechanismen.
