Abstract
The most common polyps found in the nose and paranasal sinuses are those associated with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Histologic subclassification of CRS polyps is mainly descriptive and is not specific for any particular entity. The presence of eosinophilic mucin should not be ignored, since this places the disease in the EMCRS/AFS category. Unilateral or unusual appearance necessitates the need to biopsy a polyp to exclude other possible lesions. Other lesions that present as polypoid masses include Schneiderian papillomas and mesenchymal neoplasms.
