Ideologien in der Weltpolitik

Zusammenfassung

Die großen Systemumbrüche in der Weltpolitik scheinen oftmals von der Ankündigung des „Endes der Ideologien“ begleitet zu werden. Schon 1955 — zu Beginn des Kalten Krieges und der Bipolarität — prophezeite Raymond Aron in seinem Buch L’Opium des intellectuels das baldige Ende des ideologischen Zeitalters (Aron 1955). Fünf Jahre später publizierte Daniel Bell sein nicht weniger berühmtes The End of Ideology (Bell 1960). Mit der Implosion des Kalten Krieges diagnostizierte Francis Fukuyama sogar das „Ende der Geschichte“, da der Liberalismus seine Überlegenheit dargelegt und den ideologischen Wettkampf endgültig für sich entschieden hätte; kein neuer Kontrahent sei weit und breit in Sicht (Fukuyama 1989). Der postmoderne Philosoph Gianni Vattimo setzte ein Jahr später das vermeintliche Ende der Moderne mit dem Ende der Ideologie gleich (Vattimo 1990:57).
