Abstract

Electrocrystallisation is a major stage of electrodeposition of any materials in which ad-atoms adsorbed on the surface form crystalline nuclei under favoured electrochemical conditions. Provided that the driving force applied, the electrocrystallisation leads to the formation of nano-grained deposits, or nanocrystalline deposits. Two major approaches are known to obtain nanograin electrodeposits direct current electrodeposition using grain refining additives and pulse electrodeposition. We emphasize on the pulse electrodeposition in this chapter, thus, principles and important particulars will be discussed. Ni nanocrystalline films electrodeposited by direct, and pulse techniques will be compared.
