Abstract
Single incision surgery is an evolution of conventional laparoscopy. It not only reduces the invasiveness of the access, but also of the surgical procedure itself.
The know-how necessary for this approach depends on fully understanding the new technologies. The training brings a more precise, reproducible technique and makes these advanced laparoscopic procedures possible and easier.
This chapter gives a brief overview of the evolution to single incision. We give a brief description of the techniques of gastric bypasses (Roux-en-Y, Minigastric Bypass, Bilopancreatic, Diversion) and of restrictive procedures as Sleeve Resection and Gastric Banding.
Tips and tricks that will help to complete such procedures will be discussed. Detailed description of current instruments to safely perform the surgeries are discussed.
