Abstract

This chapter outlines practical approach to rapid on-site assessment of fine needle aspiration of the kidney and adrenal gland. It discusses the important diagnostic considerations in the assessment of lesions from both organs. Kidney lesions are divided into three broad categories: cystic lesions, benign neoplasms, and malignant neoplasms, while adrenal gland lesions are divided into two categories: benign neoplasms and malignant neoplasms. Cytomorphologic features and diagnostic pitfalls of the different entities are discussed.
