Abstract

Fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy of the kidney is a valuable diagnostic modality for radiographically indeterminate mass lesions, workup for systemic diseases (metastasis, lymphoma, or infection), and for establishing a malignant diagnosis for nonsurgical candidates. Recent advances in imaging, interventional, and cytologic techniques have enhanced the accuracy of renal FNA.
