An Interpretive Systemic Exploration of Community Action in Venezuela

  • Chapter
Community Operational Research

Part of the book series: Contemporary Systems Thinking ((CST))

Abstract

Over the last 12 years, I have been involved in Community OR activities with a variety of community organisations (COs) in Venezuela (e.g., Ochoa-Arias, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000). As part of this work I have been studying community action using the inquiring framework of Interpretive Systemology: a systems approach that focuses on disclosing different possi-ble interpretations of phenomena, exploring the grounds for these possi-ble as an aspect of the inquiry. For more details of the philosophy and methodology of Interpretive Systemology see, for example, Fuenmayor (1991a-c); L¨®pez-Garay (1991); Fuenmayor et al (1991); and Ochoa-Arias (1996).
