Action of femtosecond laser pulses on metal nanoparticles in a liquid

Abstract

A theoretical model describing the influence that ultrashort laser pulses have on spherical metal nanoparticles placed in a liquid is proposed. The kinetics of excitation and damping of acoustic vibrations in gold nanoparticles is studied, and the propagation processes of acoustic disturbances in their environment are discussed.
