Abstract

Electrical and optical phenomena in the process of combustion of heterogeneous energetic condensed systems (ECSs) of the (Zr + CuO + LiF)–(Zr + BaCrO4 + LiF) type that represent the model of a high-temperature electrochemical cell (HEC) are experimentally investigated. It is found that combustion of the systems studied generates a pulsed electrical signal with a half-width duration of ~1.0 s. The maximum value of the signal amplitude reaches 1.2–1.5 V. The electrical signal occurs at the start of combustion and lasts until the end of the reaction. For the first time, the flame emission spectrum in the visible spectral range (λ ~ 300–700 nm) is recorded during combustion of the given systems. X-ray phase analysis is carried out for input components of the charge carrier source (anode) and the receiver of the charge carriers (cathode), the products of combustion of the electrodes, and the HEC model. An experimental facility for simultaneous recording of a number of physical properties of condensed energy systems during combustion is created. A technique of recording electrical signals and optical emission spectra in the course of combustion is developed.
