Abstract
CELL and tissue growth regulation occurs in response to specific stimuli. Bullough1,2 has shown that a number of tissues contain a saline-extractable, cell-specific substance, chalone, which can depress the mitotic activity of the corresponding cells in these tissues. He concluded that the presence of adrenaline and hydrocortisone was necessary in order to activate the chalone.
